CAMBRIDGE-BASED TECH ENTREPRENEUR and ANGEL INVESTOR
Charity chair and trustee, mentor and non-executive director (and Dad)
As an active angel investor for ten years, I have invested in over 50 startups and was named UK Business Angel of the Year 2014/15.
I'm the Investment Director of the Marshall of Cambridge, Martlet Corporate Angel division, and a board member of Cambridge Angels. I've led many investment deals and am a non-executive director of five angel-backed technology start-ups.
After studying Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, I went on to set up and run small businesses in technology and construction, and become a director of the Cambridge Computer Lab Ring.
Chair of the ideaSpace Accelerator's supporters, I am also a Fellow in Entrepreneurship at the Cambridge Judge Business School and a Freeman of the City of London.
I have spec-built several domestic houses and refurbished many others, including the £1.7 million Cambridge Advice Centre.
I'm also on the advisory board of a social enterprise in criminal justice and have been voluntary chair, treasurer and trustee of numerous charities for over 15 years – the Citizens Advice service, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation charity and a private sixth form college.
I've invested in over 50 early stage companies. These are largely made up of deep product technology businesses, reflecting my skills and background.
